Hello, I’m Katherine,
your guide on this journey of recovery from narcissistic abuse.
My path to becoming a therapist was born out of my own personal struggles and healing.
I grew up in an environment marked by narcissism and manipulation, although I didn't come to understand this until later in life. Throughout my childhood, I felt like a lab rat in my own home, subjected to emotional manipulation that made me question my worth and reality. This deep-seated sense of not belonging, of being 'wrong,' followed me into adulthood and influenced my relationships.
I ended up marrying a narcissist, reflecting my upbringing and perpetuating the cycle of abuse I was accustomed to. The day I finally left was a turning point, illuminating the destructive patterns in my life. It was then that I realized how pervasive narcissistic abuse was and how insidious its effects could be.
Fuelled by my experiences, I embarked on a journey to understand the mechanisms of narcissistic abuse and its deep impacts on victims. My personal exploration led me to the field of therapy, where I focused on studying narcissism and its related psychological impacts such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and self-loathing. My experiences, both personal and academic, have equipped me with a deep understanding of narcissistic abuse and the brainwashing tactics narcissists use.
Today, I consider myself a wounded healer. I've traversed the path of pain, healing, and growth, which makes me a compassionate companion to those battling similar struggles. My purpose is to help victims of narcissistic abuse process their trauma, understand their susceptibility, and break free from the fog of abuse.
I'm passionate about empowering my clients with the knowledge they need to protect themselves from further harm, and teaching them what a healthy relationship looks like. It's a journey, but a necessary one, towards finding self-love, respect, and a life free from narcissistic abuse. Let's embark on this healing path together."

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples, and families mainly involved with the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Probation. As you can imagine the cases tended to be severe, but I wanted to work where the need was and I thrived on the challenges (as they sharpened me as a therapist). Having been a client myself for many years helps me appreciate what it’s like for you to take the first step. I believe my strength Is my ability to establish a therapeutic alliance with clients; as the quality of the alliance is commonly acknowledged by researchers as the most robust predictor of treatment success.
I take more of a motivational interviewing approach when working with clients where you are the expert on your life and also use an intersubjective approach where the therapeutic relationship is the platform where work and healing take place. Additionally, I utilize a psychodynamic perspective in addressing root issues. I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Center College of Design, with a major in Advertising. Yes, it was a huge jump for me to go from art to psychology, but advertising at its core is about becoming a student of human nature. I enjoy watching movies where relationships develop in surprising and unexpected ways.
